Back to the future
These "traditional" Merkur single blades achieve a much better shave than over-hyped, expensive triple-blade systems - and with fewer ingrown hairs and skin "bumps" too. Top to learn more

Excellent blades
Excellent blades that retain a sharp edge for many shaves. Although not recommended, I have gotten 50+shaves out of 1 blade. The closeness of the shave far outshines multi-blade systems and cuts out ingrown hairs with ease. Top to learn more

Single Blades
Being a man of color I rely on the single blade razors. Merkur razors and blades have been the best for me no more bumps or ingrown hairs. I own two of them the long and short handles. I recommend them for all guys who have trouble with bumps and razor burn cause it is perfect for sensitive skin.

Occam's Merkur Razor
Do you find yourself forced to choose between buying decent razor blades or putting a down payment on a home? Isn't it interesting that big ticket items such as home computers and digital cameras continue to drop in price, making them available to everyone at a reasonable cost, while all the 'Shaving Systems' and attendant accoutrements continue to skyrocket into the stratosphere? Gillete's Mach 3 blades are sold on Amazon in packs of 8 ($17.99) and in packs of 12 ($28.99.) The Schick Quattro blades are also available, package of 8, for $21.99. Twenty to thirty bucks for a pack of razor blades? Have you people taken leave of your senses? I don't care how many new blades you add; the flashy colors and tacky gimmicks fail to impress me any longer. The Shaving Barons have ripped me off for long enough! These blades offer a very comfortable shave for a fraction of the price. Making the switch to an old school double edged razor kit may seem prohibitively expensive at first, but... Top to learn more
Using them for a year... will never go back!
I've been using a classic double edged razor (also made by Merkur) for about a year now; and I have to say that I'll never go back to "shaving systems." People have said that these blades are a mite unforgiving to beginners still learning to properly use a double edged razor, but I never had much of a problem. True, there is a small learning curve (how I wish the fathers of my generation had not been conned into the "multi-blade revolution" and had been able to teach us to shave properly). The rewards for taking the time to learn to shave properly are certainly worth the risks of a few stray nicks at first. Try them for a year in a well made razor and I'm sure you will never go back to bloated overpriced and not nearly as effective "shave scams"...er I mean systems. Top to learn more

Adequate but overpriced
If you (like myself) initially came to Amazon first in starting your entry into DE safety razor shaving, STOP right now. Using the search engine of your choice, seek out the several popular shaving blogs and online vendors. Do your homework before you reach for that credit card and read, read, read before making your choices. Merkur makes excellent DE razors that are well liked by novices and experts alike but their blades are only middle of the road in their performance but are priced above their value point. There are multiple choices for razor blades from all over the world (England/Russia/India/Pakistan/Turkey/Japan) and multiple vendors selling sample packs to help you in your search, prices range from $0.10 to $0.50 per blade with shipping, so choose wisely young shaving Jedi. Lives up to its reputation for sharpness, but the warnings are overstated
Feathers have a reputation for being the sharpest blade, but also the one that lends itself to the most nicks, the one that requires the most skill to handle. So far I've tried three blades - Merkurs were dull and gave an awful shave as well as a number of nicks (due to me trying to shave closer and applying pressure and taking many passes), Derby's are excellent but do tend to irritate my skin a bit after I've gone against the grain. With Derby's, I have to do a number of passes to get a good shave, so irritation is unavoidable. The Feather I just shaved with gave me a great shave just by going with the grain. I would probably be happy enough with that on most days, but surprised that I had no nicks given that I'm a relative newbie to DE shaving and Feathers are supposed to be like samurai swords, only to be handled by the masters, I then decided to go against the grain for some extra closeness. The only nick was on my neck where I had a big razor bump (or a pimple?) and the blade,... Top to learn more

By far my favorite
I've spent the last few months trying various blades: 7 AM, Derby, Astra, Merkur, Gilette Swedes (these *were* my favorite), Sharp, and several other brands. The Feather blades win hands-down for me. They are the sharpest and best at keeping their edge that I've used.Though as others have warned, be careful or you'll wind up with your fair share of nicks. But if you pay attention, you'll get a very close and satisfactory shave. Top to learn more

Sharp Japanese Steel
I purchased these blades (along with some Derby blades) a few days after receiving my Merkur long-handled safety razor.Because of new job opportunities, I had to return to shaving after growing out and wearing a full beard for over a year. I dislike conventional shaving so much that it was one of the several reasons why I've grown out my beard in the past. When deciding to shave off my beard again, I promised myself I would make shaving more enjoyable than I'd experienced with those useless cartridge and electric razors I've wasted my money on. Of course, my research led me to wet-shaving with a double edge safety razor.I was apprehensive to use these blades at first. I'd read so many reviews about these being "ninja sharp" and "not for beginners" I was willing to wait patiently as I retaught myself how to shave. I was developing my technique and getting comfortable with the Derby blades all while the Feathers sat on the shelf.Finally,... Top to learn more

a must for your merkur razor, sharp and to the point shaving
not much to be said other than you need these for your merkur razor. These are very sharp, and will give you an amazing shave. If you are new to merkur double edge razors, start slow, and with short strokes; shave with the grain of your face. Switch to other side of the blade after each pass, and rinse in hot water, and then do again. You will become a shaving pro in no time, and wonder how you shaved your whole life without these. Keep your extra blades packed in their original box, and outside the bathroom, such as in a closet until you need to use them. Top to learn more
Great Blades for the Merkur "1904" Classic Safety Razor
These blades came with my Merkur "1904" Classic Safety Razor - Open-#41 I just ordered. I am new to using a saftey razor and all I could say is where have you been all my life. I have always had irritation from disposable razors and I tried many. I saw an ad in Money Magazine about the cost effectiveness of using a Saftey Razor so I gave it a try. I love to save money, but what I love more is the close, non-irritating shave I get from this razor and these blades.I have used the blade four times on my face so far and it still feels very comfortable and gives me a very close shave. I am so pleased with these blades and shaver that I am amazed why more men don't shave using saftey razors.I also bought other blades that I haven't used yet, but all I can say is my beard is extremely heavy and I'm on my fourth shave with the same blade. I hope I like the other blades I ordered just as much, if not, I am order these blades in bulk.I now look forward... Top to learn more

Good entry level blade but move to feather
These blade are good for the entry level wet shavers. They are a forgiving compared to the feather blades. Gave me a reasonable amount of razor burn due to the blades. scavenging through forums, recommendation was to move to feather blades. Though pricier, feather blades have suited me better. Doubt I will return to these blades again. Top to learn more

Great way to discover the "best" way to shave...
Believe it or not, these blades all perform differently. This is a great way to be sure that your DE shave is all that it can be. I personally have settled on the "Sharp" brand blades.Throw out that Makemecrazy3 or whatever those are called, spend a few more minutes giving yourself a treat in shaving. Top to learn more
Do you like to try different brands blades in your safety razor or are you just not sure which brand to buy? Our Variety Pack contains a total 100 blades. 10 Crystal blades and 15 each of Astra Stainless, Astra Platinum, Shark Stainless (or Gillette 7'Oclock SharpEdge), Shark Super Chrome, 7AM Platinum, and Sharp Stainless. We think these are all fabulous blades. Why not enjoy them all?

A Great Idea for a Newcomer
This is a great deal: buying this pack of 100 blades gives you 7 types of blades - if you look at this fact and think "I only need 1 type of blade; I can pretend to be happy with the largest amount I can buy at once," then consider the fact that all blades are made with different blade angles, manufacturing guidelines, etc. These blades give you both enough blades of each type to 'get used to' each, but not too many to regret if one type isn't for you. This is a much better idea than buying, say, 1,000 of some specific blade (say, 7 AM) and then realizing you can't get a good shave with it.So why only a 4-star rating? Well, there's the that has 20 types of blades, with 2 blades of each type. Honestly, this is probably a better idea for several reasons: It... Top to learn more

Not a great selection. Just buy some Shark Chromes.
The Sharks are by far and away the best blades here -- and they are outstanding; the Astras are not so good, the Sharps are thin and "skippy", the 7 a.m. Platinums have a weird tarnish, and the Crystal Supers look to be complete junk (I've used similar generic ones). I did not receive a pack of Israeli Personnas as pictured in the product shot but I think these Crystals are the same ones rebranded... which is sketchy. Most of these samples are all mediocre to poor; no Feathers or even Derbys in this bunch. I'd be suspicious of all the 5-star reviews on this page -- either people don't know what the hell they are talking about or there's a lot of shills; most of the "reviewers" go into zero detail about the blades themselves. But the truth is, there are a few other blades out there that will work better in your Merkur razor than the stock Merkur blade. I only post this data because I own various Merkurs and have never found the Merkur blade to yield a good shave.
Using Art of Shaving merchandise and Merkur blades, I’m competent to get a close shave with no razor burn/bumps. This razor unquestionably has a great deal of weight to it and I find the blade loading/unloading simple even though not as cool as the “butterfly” razors. 3 months ago I made the leap from cartridge shaving (Gillette Fusion) to shaving with a safety razor. I have found Merkur blades to be the happy medium amongst quality and sharpness altho Feather’s without doubt or question are samurai sword sharp. The razor comes just as advertised and I couldn’t be more pleased with the quality of shave and the scaled down cost of the blades vs the Fusion cartridges. Clean shaves are a must daily and I’ve tried it all…magic shave, mach 3, Fusion (or as I call it mach 5), Norelco Nivea for men shavers and clippers. Having no experience with a safety razor my exploration led me to various choices (most by Merkur) and I chosen the 34C.
