I am the victim of many permanent hair removal scams and I am also a recipient of professionally applied laser, and diathermy hair removal so I consider myself a bit of a veteran. Of all the DIY permanent hair removal systems I believe this one is the only one that I would ever recommend. The similarities of this method are very similar to diathermy (which is the only permanent hair removal method with FDA approval). The sensation is very similar, not quite as intense, the trade off is that it lasts longer. The little sores that are left after the treatment are exactly the same and take the same time to heal. The exact same tweezing technique is used, and the hair regrowth rate appears to be about the same as well. Unfortunately there is a chance of scarring if you aren't careful so read the instructions carefully and stick to them. It can be very tedious. I read about this product as much as I could before I went out to purchase it. In the end figured that if I ended up wasting [...] bucks it would be worth the experiment.To my delight, I love this little home electrolysis! Yes, it hurts a little... but I think it depends on the area, the setting and how thick the hair is. So if you can endure a little pain for 15 seconds this might be for you. The salt water is a little bothersome, but once you get in the routine of using it, you don't think about it.I haven't had a problem with bending the stylus tip yet, but it wouldn't hurt to have extra on hand (though they do give you a spare in the kit).You will need to purchase some isopropyl alcohol if you don't already have some. You might also want to consider getting a magnifying mirror; however, it's not required and I have yet to use mine. I've wasted so much money going to an electrolysis!
The only reason I give this item 4 stars is because it is not as easy as it states. However, I am so happy I bought this product. I regret spending over $200 going to an electrolysis for the past few months when this item does the exact same thing the electrolysis does but at a fraction of the price. Yeah you do have to do it yourself but if you are a money conscious person like myself, that will not matter. This was the best $40 I've ever spent but I do suggest to go to a pro first so you'll know what to expect when doing this at home.

Very pleased...
I received the home electrolysis almost three weeks ago and used it immediately. I guess I had the setting set to high and I burned the skin slightly and formed a few scabs where the skin had been pierced. I have had similary experiences at the salon as well so it was nothing new, but I have noticed no hair regrowth as of yet and its been almost three weeks so I am very pleased with the product.

Th ebest thing I've bought all year
I love this product. It works so well. Yes it is tedious, and there is a little discomfort, but it's no more painful than plucking and you don't have to shave ever again (which I used to do every other day). It's the best thing and I don't know how I lived without it.

The main thing to know about doing at home electrolysis is to start out on a low setting. Most people will scar for long periods of time if you go over a 5. I keep mine set to a 3 or 4 and I have super thick hairs. I made the mistake of starting out on an a 7 and 8 in some areas and am still healing 6 months later, luckily it was an area that can be hidden by clothing. Also, under no circumstance should you go over a 4 on the face, usually stay between a 2 and 3 for the face.Other tips are to buy lots of extra stylet tips. If the tip bends its no good and you'll need another one.Replace the battery often. The device is most effective with a well charged battery.Sometimes if the hair is really thick you'll have to hold the stylet tip in for up to 1 minute. I used this both on my face and all over my bikini area (and I do mean ALL over, including the inner folds, if you catch my drift) and it did a fantastic job getting rid of the hair, left me feeling near-silky smooth, and no rash of bumps, which I always get with depilatories or a traditional razor. Plus, you can't use those last two methods around your "inner folds." Like a previous reviewer, I'll be buying another to keep in my bag. I don't know that I'd use it around my eyebrows, though. I think I prefer the control that plucking gives in that area.
