Works when used properly
I own one of these, and If used as directed (which is actually very easy), Epicare effectively removes unwanted hair from upper lip, cheeks, and chin. It is obvious that hair removal from root is the most effective, but associated with sensitivity, no matter what method is used. I also like that the greatest benefit of Epicare is that it does not damage your skin like all other traditional hair-removal methods. And it is definitely less painful than waxing. i have been threading all my life but this product is amazing. It basically uses the same idea as that of threading but does it in a very convenient way. I am simply in love with it. It took a lot of guts to buy this after reading some of the one and two star writer reviews. However, after years of suffering from wax burns and irritated skin from every other form of removal...and because I could never hope to get the job done with teezers...I was willing to give it a try especially after seeing it in Oprah's favorite finds list.I almost rated it 4 stars because it is tricky to figure out how to use it but felt it deserved a 5 because it gets the job done.The second I found the REM in my mailbox, I ripped it out of the package (it was 11PM when I got my mail) and proceeded to experiment for the next hour and a half.Since then, I've ravaged my entire face, removing all of my man hair and some! You have to experiment to get it to work but it does work very well
I ordered this because I read about it in Oprah's O Magazine and they loved it. When I received it, I read the directions and even went to the REM website and watched a video of how to use it, but I couldn't get it to work for me. I almost gave up and thought about tossing it, but then I decided to experiment since there were other people who liked it.Here's what worked:1.) You don't necessarily have to bend the spring into a tight U shape as shown in the pictures (you can also use it bent just a little into a wide rounded U shape).2.) Lay the spring against your skin just below where you want to remove the hair.3.) As you slowly move the spring upward, twirl the right hand fingers clockwise and the left hand fingers counter-clockwise. If you twirl them the opposite way, no hairs get grabbed (this was the main thing I needed to figure out and the instructions didn't explain it).4.) I purchased the DM 6000 laser hair removal machine March 5th, 2012. I recieved the equipment on time. I must admit, when I pulled everything out of the box and saw the machine, I was intimidated by the looks of everything. I read the instructiuons over and over, I was scared to try it out. I put everything back in the box. I finally, decided to just go slow with it, and try it out. It had a piece of carbon paper in with it, to test the equipment out. I did not wax or shave any hair, like the instructions said to do for best results, before using it. I just put the dye on and after it dried I put the cooling gel over the dye and used the equipment. I was still nervous when I used it the first time. I just followed the instructions. The instructions tell you what to expect. I did feel heat in the areas I used it on. After using it, I felt like I had a sun burn, but that went away a couple hours later. I don't put a lot of faith in beauty products (if only there was a facelift in a jar!) but I've been hoping for an effective way to remove facial hair that would not require paying for laser treatments. I tried this product on my upper lip about two weeks ago and was delighted with the results.You begin by applying a protective balm to the area to be treated and massaging it in for 20 seconds. Honestly, the balm feels like Vaseline. You apply a thick layer of the hair remover over that. The instructions said to leave it on for 6 to 8 minutes, or no more than 10 minutes for coarser hair. I left it on the full 10 minutes just to see how it would affect my skin. About 9 minutes in, I started to feel a slight burning sensation. When I wiped it off with a cotton puff, presto -- the hair was gone. My skin was completely smooth. I have used this twice... yes, it is best to put the protective cream on in a thin layer, slighlty beyond the area you are planning to defoliate. It is important to put the defoliant on in two layers to obtain a sufficiently thick cover, no gaps.I was concerned that my skin would be irritated. There wasn't any reddening where I used both products but in one small place where I exceeded the protection from the cream, I had a small reddened area that took two days to fully clear & responded well to otc steroid cream.Did it remove hair? You bet, but not coarse hair, which I didn't expect it to do but tried it there anyway.My treated skin feels smoother than it has since childhood! Disappointed
I was looking forward to another Olay product to do what it's supposed to do, BUT, as one of the other reviews stated, it did not remove my "coarse" chin hair, and removed about 50 percent of my lip hair...For the price of this product, I feel as if the other OTC products for facial hair or sensitive skin work just as well and for a third of the price..I do see the price has already dropped from the $29.99 I paid to $22.99..I will not purchase this again unless the price drops a bit more. The answer for girls with embarassing hair
I've been using the Tria for almost a year now, and it's exceeded my expectations. I have polycystic ovaries, and, therefore, dark hair where girls aren't 'supposed to.' I shave my face, chest and arms every day. This used to be completely traumatic- painful and time-consuming. This is fine for small areas, but a bit tedious for larger areas. I have been getting laser hair removal at medical spas for years and I am familiar with the technology behind tria. I purchased this system in Feb 2010 and did not want to write a review until I had thoroughly used it. The purpose for which I purchased it was to remove hair in the bikini line and underarm area. I have been faithfully using it every 2 weeks from Feb 2010 until the end of Nov 2010. The instructions for the machine tell you to use it every 2 weeks for the first 3 months and only once a month afteward up to 8 months for maximum results. I wanted to be sure that I got the best results so I used it every 2 weeks the whole 9 months. I have to say that I am impressed with the product overall. I am a prime candidate for laser hair removal with light skin and dark, course hair. I still have some very minor fine hair in the bikini area and a little hair in the underarms. I am still using the product to get rid of these last stubborn areas, but the overall result is very nice and trouble free. The biggest complaint I have is against the quality of the product.
