A funny, action-packed western
This John Wayne show is where John Wayne is going to be arrested because of a murder he didn't commit. So he impersonates a gang of outlaws and makes friends with the gang, and the leader, who is the murderer, is the man that really likes John Wayne. Well, I'm not telling you any more except that this was a totally fun movie. I was really cold when I watched this movie, but the action really warmed me up. I recommend this to any John Wayne fan, wether you're a big fan or not.

An early John Wayne western with Yakima Canutt's stunts
"Sagebrush Trail" is the second Lone Star Western that John Wayne did for the poverty row studio between 1933-35, although this time around he is not a singing cowboy. Directed by Armand Schaefer, this 1933 film has Wayne as John Brant, who is in prison for a murder he did not commit, which was a recurring notion in these westerns. Brant escapes and takes the alias John Smith, which is certain to fool everyone, and joins an outlaw gang. There, of course, he finds Joseph Conlon (Lane Chandler), who is not only the dirty scoundrel who actually committed the murder but who has also taken the alias of Bob Jones. Yes, that means that what we have here are the original "Alias Smith and Jones." Actually, "Sagebrush Trail" takes an interesting turn here because Jones does not know that anyone was ever sent to prison for the crime he committed, which makes it hard for our hero to gun him down or even beat him up. Instead the two men become friends as our...

Good DVD edition
As far as the merits of the film go, I can't add anything to Mr. Barnabo's informative review (maybe a little TOO informative , actually, gave away plot points).I would like to say that I purchased this Good Times Video edition after trying the Madacy edition (John Wayne two pack). The Good Times disc has a much better picture quality, although not quite as good as the Laser Disc I own. Both Madacy and Good Times have the original soundtrack music. The Good Times disc does add in two brief spots the ludicrous modern action movie score added in the 1980s (that's all over the Laser Disc edition). So, if you want to own Sagebrush Trail, this is the edition I'd recommend.

A must have for any beard loving human!
For years I went between having a beard, being clean shaven, beard, clean shaven...you get the picture. Never did I know that there were so many types, shapes and styles of beards. This book lays it all out on the bathroom vanity, so to speak. What to use, how to use it, how to cut, what could look good on you, some history of beard types. A great read for somebody looking to experiment with their image. My face has never been happier. Thank you! I can't wait to try them all!

Great book...and nice author too!
Had the occasion to meet Nick at a signing at Border's San Francisco Center. Nice guy! But about the book - it's a great read, tons of historical content, so it's not just about style, it's about the whole history of the bearded gent. We had to give it as a gift to a friend, but not until we went through it. Written in a casual informative style, you'll learn a lot as well as enjoy the different styles of goatees, soul patches and beards (who knew there were so many options!). Fun for the fans of the bearded gent and the bearded gent in your life.

Product Description

For centuries, men have been growing and styling their facial hair, whether for the sake of vanity, religion, or cultural considerations, but most of us don’t give it a second thought. The Bearded Gentleman is an authoritative yet lighthearted guide that offers detailed information on some fifty specific facial hair styles: where they come from, how to grow them, and how to maintain them.

Among them are many well-known styles, such as the Handlebar, the Fu Manchu, the Goatee, the Van Dyck, and the more recent Soul Patch. But there are also those that are less familiar, including the Horseshoe, the Lampshade, the Painter’s Brush, the Landing Strip, the French Fork, and El Insecto (a.k.a. the Mighty). There’s also practical advice on choosing a facial hair style that’s right for you, as well as insight into how facial hair has figured in the history of masculinity, including its impact on politics, class, and sexuality.

The Bearded Gentleman is an entertaining, witty, and useful guide to facial hair styles and the men who wear them.

Allan Peterkin’s previous books include One Thousand Beards: A Cultural History of Facial Hair, featured in Time, Esquire, and The New Yorker.

Nick Burns is one of the leading writers on men’s grooming; he has covered skin care, fashion, and health for publications including The New York Times, GQ, Details, and Out, and he is author of the popular men’s style blog HommeGrooming.com.

It works.
If you are even reading this, you probably have done all the single-blade-razor, wash your face after shaving stuff, like I did. I still would end up with...technically they are ingrown hairs, but you and I know they really should be called a lot of things that cannot be written on a website kids might see. I've got three different tweezers, needles, and somewhere there is a landfill that is 10% bloody tissues I am responsible for.Well, my girlfriend bought me this for Christmas last year, and it has actually worked. I actually forgot how well it was working until I ran out a while ago and descended back into the bloodletting Dark Ages. I ordered it from here, and it was shipped quickly, no problems. It is expensive. It does last a long time, though. Its not the kind of thing you slather on, just enough to cover.Highly recommended.

Expensive, but extremely effective.
The product is costly, but it has proven to be worth every cent. My problem with ingrown hairs has stopped completely. It's a small amount of product, but you only need a little dab and the can will last quite some time.

Good gift for someone who might like Art of Shaving
I already use Art of Shaving pre-shave oil, shaving cream, and their upper end badger brush. I have always liked these and especially in the lavender scent. Lavender is so calming and girls always comment on the smell. The pre-shave oil is were it is at especially if you get razor burn easily.I bought these for groomsmen's gifts with a dopp bag. It was a good way to expose them to this product without investing in the sampler or a full kit. The positive feedback I got from these guys were: great scent, like the pre-shave oil, and like the after shave balm. The less-positive feedback I got was: the shaving cream does not later well and the brush falls apart. The brush is pretty low end when compared to even AofS's low-end/regular sized brushes. Others have mentioned the same thing so I would not expect to travel with this and expect a high performer. It is best for getting your foot in the door to see if you like it.I use the shaving cream soap bar...

A Perfect Shaving line...forrr Midgets.
I loved the scent of this. But when I opened it...I thought elves have made it a little early for christmas. I admired the gentle design. I tried it, and loved it. The shaving cream goes on smooth. It really helps to get an "effortless glide" when swiping the razor. That is...the highlight. It lets you know you got a quality product on your hand, or face. The pre-oil is ok, I still had some overall redness. The after shave balm was great...it smelled great and left a smooth tan glow on your skin that I applied to my whole face afterwards. Overall, the size seemed small but turns out will last me a long time. Like they say, a little goes a long way. Buy this product if you wanna save (bout $30 from the site) and try it out, and get the perfect shave, the art of shaving.

Great Gift!
My husband loves Art of Shaving and he was in need of the Alum Block. It's a great product. It was also nice to receive samples along with the product we purchased!

Halts nicks in their tracks
It's always begins the same way - I'm almost done shaving, a perfect shave. No cuts, no nicks, just a smooth, slightly red but happy face. Then, on one of the final drags of the Fusion across my neck I manage to cut myself. In the past, I curse loudly, dab the blood with a tissue or cotton round, wait, dab again, wait, splash my face with cold water, wait, dab, wait., eventually it clots and I have a nice imperfection marring my previously perfect shave. These days, when I cut myself I curse loudly (still) but now reach by the sink and grab my alum block, hold it under running water for a few seconds, hold it to my cut for another few seconds, and then it's taken care of. I apply aftershave as if nothing had ever happened. Problem solved.

Shaving Burn

Use shaving lotion will help soften the hair and avoid razor cuts and shaving in the same direction the hair grows, not against it will also help avoid ingrown hairs. Sensitive skin, dull razors, shaving when the skin is too dry can all lead to razor burn. Shaving is viewed as a nuisance because it is usually a daily occurrence and because of the constant appearance of ingrown hairs, razor bumps and razor burn. To prevent razor burn skip the old, rusty razor and go for a new one. Razor burn is a very common side effect of shaving. So, what are we to do. There are a couple of ways to circumvent razor burn, bumps and ingrown hairs. The following text will examine ingrown hairs and razor burn as well as their treatment options. If you already have a case of razor burn, you should use products with natural ingredients like aloe vera and snail serum. Just as with razor burn, it is important to use warm water on the area that is to be shaven. To deal with razor burn you have two options: treatment and prevention.

Efficiency – Your every day bottle of shaving cream isn’t exactly going to break the bank, but you can save some cash on shaving lotions and moisturizers by simply switching to using shaving oils instead. Pre Shave Moisturizer – Using shaving oil to moisturize your skin is a great way to use this product prior to utilizing an electric shaver. Although most people have never heard of it, there are a number of great advantages to using shaving oil over traditional shaving creams, lotions, and aftershaves as well. Due to the fact that these sort of products have taken over most of the market, most men aren’t familiar with their use, but you might actually find out that you prefer using these sort of solutions when it comes to the process of shaving, whether... Instead of cutting or nicking the skin while shaving, the blade will glide across the skin.

If you decide to shave the opposite way the hair is growing in, make sure not to pull your skin too taut while doing it because it’s easier to get burn and ingrown hairs if you do that. Some people like to shave in the direction that the hair is growing because this reduces the chances of burn and ingrown hairs. Try to soak in the bath (or shave at the end of a shower), so that way the hair isn’t as coarse, but it’s soft and the follicle is open from the steam and hot water, so it’ll be easier to shave. It’s also a good idea to wear cotton or other breathable underwear in order to prevent burning or ingrown hairs. I find this works wonders for keeping razor burn away. Personally, I like to use conditioner instead of shaving cream, but you can use whatever you’d like.
